We really enjoyed ourselves and those lovely people at Blues at the Farm said this:
”
Hi Vicky & co
Firstly we want to thank you all for such a superb gig on Saturday. Really blew us away & Elephant Shelf has been the main conversation topic since then. Well done to all & where the hell did Rosie & Lady Di get voices like that from. Far too much talent on stage for our feeble brains to soak up in one afternoon. Brilliant !!
Hope we can get you back at The Farm for next year.

Elephant Shelf is about songs, rhythms and entertainment. Their original songs embodying all that is best in Rhythm & Blues, Swing, Blues, Country, the great American songbook, and much else. In the band’s own words: “We draw on the classic well loved sounds from the 60’s 70’s and beyond, add our own touches to make it our own music. We never consciously copy anyone else’s arrangements. We deliberately do it differently” and we add a large dash of good humour and a love of entertaining. That is us; Elephant Shelf.”

Hello peeps
Well the Delta Ladies are currently on a short French tour and we are pleased to say that its going very well…several gigs and great receptions.
The rest of the Shelf are on a break – Terry is in California with Glenn Patrik (www.glennpatrink.com) apart from meeting lots of big names in the USA he’s going to guest with Glenn at a festival gig or two.
Robbie Charles is on a deep sea diving expedition in the Indian Ocean where he’ll also be doing some shark fishing, and Rosie is filming in the Balearics. When everybody gets back there’s a band day out in Ramsgate and then back to the grind.
But we’re back in the UK next week, it’s a quiet start but we can tell you that Robbie Charles will be playing at the Blues Room St. Albans on Friday 4th June with his jazz group.
And we are going to recommend that on Saturday 5th June you all go to The Blues Room @ Harry Smith’s Bar 1 Verulam Road St. Albans when our good friend LARRY MILLER will be playing. Larry is hugely popular, extremely good looking and one of the best rock/blues acts around. That’s 9pm on 5th June and it is rumoured that the DELTA LADIES will be doing a support slot.
Also here’s advance notice of another major event at the Blues Room-
Thursday 10 June JERRY DONAHUE & DOUG MORTER plus Elephant Shelf acoustic
Jerry D is widely regarded as one of the world’s finest players on the Fender Telecaster, known in the UK for working with Fairport Convention and Fotheringay, Later he recorded and/or toured with artists such as Robert Plant, George Harrison, Nanci Griffith, The Proclaimers, Chris Rea and numerous others. Doug Morter is also highly active on the roots music scene.
If you play guitar or love guitar then come and see Jerry Donahue one of the very best around.

A Pink Hippo says: I had quite a fun weekend;
Saturday May 8th was a great night at the Blues Room in St Albans backing the rather good >> Earl Jackson which was basically a Rock & Roll night. We did an opening Elephant Shelf set and get Earl up to keep the folks rocking till about 12:30 so another 3 hour set fueled only by 2 pints of draft Guinness. A great bunch of people there and I think they really enjoyed it, and they were up and dancing right till the end. We also had a guest appearance from Rollo Marquee a very good blues harp player who will be playing at the Blues Room soon too.
Sunday May 9th of to ST FM in Burnham Essex to do a live to air set with Elephant Shelf .
We did four songs, with an interview with the band sandwiched in-between. We were on the Sunday night show with Veteran Essex musician, journalist and broadcaster Tim Aves ‘Blues is back’ show.

-
We met Tim previously when he played with the shelf at the Blues Room. Tim is a very well-known, award-winning figure on the national UK blues scene, as a performer, writer and event organiser. He sings and plays harmonica and guitar and spent 17 years on the road, clocking up more than 3,000 gigs across the UK and continental Europe in the 1980s and 1990s with legendary Essex rhythm’n'blues band AUTOMATIC SLIM, who shared stages with a huge range of major artistes, including Status Quo and Dr Feelgood. He later spent a further 13 years fronting the highly-regarded (but sadly, now disbanded) Texas blues outfit, THE ROCKIN’ ARMADILLOS (The band also featured Saint FM Rock Show co-host Paul Lester on drums and Gasbags co-presenter Jane English on vocals.)
We enjoyed the experience and we hope to be back down in Burnham on Crouch in the not too distant future . The live sound was mixed by Pete Crisp who engineers at the St Peters Studio and who also gave us a copy of the tracks that went to air. Then another Real Ale and a Veggie burger, and off home to London.
