Elephant Shelf NewsLatest Shelf News Greetings one & all It’s been a while since a news update – we have been busy – finishing recording the long awaited Elephant Shelf ‘Proper’ Album. Well it’s all done – 13 tracks of which 11 will go on the album due to be released in September, there’ll be around 65 minutes of original tunes, some you’ll know and some you won’t. We’re now in the process of mixing – artwork, etc. is all under way. THE ORIGIN OF THE NAME ‘ELEPHANT SHELF’ – we’ve been at lots of new venues lately and we’re always get asked this question. We are pleased to tell you that we are in association with BIFF (formerly of the Guardian) producing the definitive cartoon version of the story of the origin – it will be ON THE WEBSITE IN SEPTEMBER. Which reminds me – THE WEBSITE WWW.ELEPHANTSHELF.COM HAS BEEN UPDATED…there are a few wee teething thingies but we think its much better and good fun too. Then later on Saturday we are at Olivers Jazz Bar Nevada Steet Greenwich at 10:00 with the full band. Firstly we add a few new friends to the mailing list – Robin Glen (who supplied our new van), Phillipa Marquand, Ian Barnes, Sandra Grant (who jammed with us at Olivier’s), Steve, the other Steve, Faye Carrick, Mandy & Jo, Ian Bailey, Nahid, and many others. Apologies if you’ve waited a while for a mailing but here goes, we’ll be as regular as we can but completion of the album is taking up a lot of time. Friday 5th September – The Bell Ruislip 298 West End Road, Ruislip, Middlesex, HA4 6LS, FULL BAND 9.15 start, this is very lively place with a ‘down to earth clientelle’ Saturday 6th September – The King’s Head Rochford (near Leigh on Sea) FULL BAND 11, West St, Rochford, Essex, SS4 1BE Essex . first time here for us Sunday 7th September – The Sir Richard Steele’s - 97 Haverstock Hill, NW3 4RL TRIO 4pm (ish) a really great pub this one. Tuesday 9th September – The Peahen 6 London Rd St. Albans, AL1 1NQ Full band (Mellow Jazzy version) 8pm - this is a realy nice place, cool vibe,with really good food Friday 12th September – The Chequers -11 Chequers Rd Writtle, Chelmsford, CM1 3NG FULL BAND 9pm Sunday 14th September THE BOOT MARKET SQUARE ST ALBANS 4.30pm – THIS IS ONE OF VERY BEST PUB GIGS YOU’LL EVER GET TO –GREAT CROWD, GREAT VIBE HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
